Welch 1376 Duo-Seal Belt Driven Vacuum PumpFor sale- a Welch 1376 Duo-Seal Belt Driven Vacuum Pump with a GE 1 HP motor.
I have had this thing for years but it was mounted to a larger platform with a Varian diffusion pump on it, and I couldn’t get the diff pump off which made the whole assembly tough to deal with.
I finally cut the other pump off with a grinder so that I could finally sell them.
I had assumed this to be a 1402 until I wiped away some of the typical grime associated with these things.
The GE motor will accept either 110 or 220VAC, obviously single phase.
As you can see in the pictures the motor has a sticker on it that says CONNECTED LO-VOLTAGE CCW, and surprisingly the diffusion pump was labeled 110V, so I decided that most likely it was set up for 110.
Which was important because the AC cords to both had been cut.
Sometimes that’s a bad sign but the diff pump cord was cut just a few feet from where it plugged into the pump, so in this case it probably had more to do with what was expedient for whoever wanted to send these off to surplus.
So I put a new 110V plug on the short available remaining cord and the thing fires right up.
I have no idea how much oil is in the pump so I kept the run time to just a few seconds.
It does have some oil in it because some leaked out when I was trying to get it off the larger assembly even though I had the holes taped shut.
Any remaining oil will be drained prior to shipment.
For the brief duration of the run I covered the intake with my hand and it’s pulling a pretty good vacuum, but I cannot quantify that for you.
No funny smells or sounds.
So there has been at least that much minimal testing.
Given that these things are about 00 new and so I am asking less than 20 cents on the dollar, and given the shipping costs involved and the fact that these are rebuildable I am pretty sure I am going to say this one is going out on a one way ticket.
NO returns.
Just so that we are clear on that, this is an item that has not been thoroughly tested.
As such it may work fine or it may have problems, so any purchase entails a certain amount of risk.
You will need to decide if the risk level is acceptable to you, and if not you need to pass on this particular item.

Check back often!
Sold as is, as described, as pictured.
Potential buyers are asked to please make sure you have read the listing carefully, and understand what you are buying.
Ebay’s condition codes for used items, which I am required to choose from, might imply a degree of functionality that my limited time, knowledge, and facilities do not allow me to ascertain.
If the functional condition of the piece is known it will be stated in the listing.
Unless a warranty is specifically offered returns are not accepted regardless of any implied functionality.
Payment is expected within 7 days of the sale and I need to hear from you within 3 days to confirm the transaction.
Shipping will be motor freight on a pallet.
I estimate the shipping weight at 180 pounds, which I would estimate to cost between 0 to a nearby location on the east coast and 0 to the west coast.
Perhaps more if it is shipping to a residence or you will require a liftgate delivery.
I can quote your specific shipment but would need to know your zip code and whether it is going to a business or a residence and whether there is a loading dock or a forklift there to offload the shipment.
