Chinese Japanese doll 1940s CONFUCIUS made in China plaster composition head

This doll was part of a collection of Asian/Japanese/Chinese dolls I bought in early 2013. I am not a doll expert and I am best-guessing the info based on what I can see and estimate based on 35 years in antique toys. I have taken plenty of pics for you to form your own conclusions. Some of the dolls from this collection might be as early as 1930s.
only end flap of lid and partial box bottom remains, has name paper, stand base has snapped in 2 and been reglued; doll head is composition or plaster and has large hairline crack, great details and excellent condition otherwise
