    Description

    Black Memorabilia. Rag dolls, two plantation maids. Very old handmade Rag Dolls. Hand me downs from a North Carolina Black Family. Age unknown. Very Old.
    These dolls measure 11" and 11 1/2 tall. Bodies are cotton filled and well formed with hinged arms and legs.
    Condition is very good vintage, materials seem to be very old, with several small age spots on apron and one pantaloon leg. Handmade with hand sewn mouths and eyes. Hair seems to be hand knotted black yarn
    Both dolls have an apron and pantaloons. One has a bandana covering her head.
    Dolls like these were made for the children of families searching for their freedom through the Underground Railroad during and after the Civil War.
