Description
The United Dutch East India Company (Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie (VOC) was a trading company with branches around the world. It built its own ships, had its own army, and employed thousands of people. It also minted its own currency. This a copper "Duit" minted in the Netherlands. It's exact origin is unknown but appears to be sea salvage because of its signs of oxidation. A truly historical, beautiful, and relatively scarce coin at a pauper's price.
